My Journey Into This Field

My name is Kathi. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy.  I have served professionally across the lifespan, including work as a nanny, a preschool play therapist, an elementary school counselor, an individual and family therapist with adolescents in residential treatment, and a hospice volunteer. In each of these positions, I have served people where they were on their particular journey. I developed individualized relationships, and created safe spaces to help others with their growth. In 2024-2025, I took a nine month class with the New York Zen Center called Foundations of Contemplative Care.  This class focused on being present with those at the end of life and required 50 clinical hours, which I completed at Arbor Hospice. That experience solidified my interest in becoming an end-of life-doula, and I went on to take the EOL Doula certificate class through The University of Vermont.  Following this, I took the National End of Life Alliance (NEDA) proficiency assessment and received the micro-credential of NEDA Proficient. I subsequently took the University of Vermont certificate class in grief and bereavement, and the pediatric end-of-life doula specialist class.  I have particular interests in helping folks conduct a life review and consider their legacy, as well as supporting others in their grief.  My extensive experience with children, combined with my doula training, makes me uniquely qualified to support grieving children as well as children with terminal diagnoses and their families.
